Summary[]

Luffy tells the epic tale of how he became a pirate (or at least a bit of it, anyway...I mean, he left out all the interesting bits with Ace and Dadan, and we don't even get to find out who his mom is or anything...kind of a disappointment, really).

Anyways, here are some more internet funnies.

Cast[]

  • Uraby210 as Luffy, Shanks, Yasopp, Lucky Roux and Woop Slap
  • WispaGoldMS as Makino
  • Munjeej as Higuma
  • Father Jack Hackett as Zoro
  • rabidfishy as Arlong

Music[]

  • (0:00 - 0:15) "Memories" - Maki Otsuki
  • (0:15 - 1:04) "We Are!" - Hiroshi Kitadani
  • (7:16 - 7:31) "Overlap" - Kimeru
  • (9:04 - 9:06) "Theme from "Spongebob Squarepants" - Nickelodeon
  • Various pieces from the One Piece OST throughout

References[]

  • (1:25) "I'm Luffy! The Man Who's Gonna Be King of the Pirates!" is the title of Episode 1 of One Piece.
  • (2:33) "Kick the Can" is a childrens' game similar to Tag.
  • (3:42) Jawas are a race of diminuitive scavengers in the Star Wars films.
  • (5:25) "Gingerneck" is a derogatory term for those with ginger hair.
  • (6:08) "Smoke and Run" is a common strategy in the "Call of Duty" video games, entailing escaping whilst your enemies are blinded by a smokescreen.
  • (6:29) "Twenty Questions" is a game that involves asking twenty yes or no questions in order to guess the identity of an object or concept known only by your opponent.
  • (8:33) "Teabagging" is a practice in some video games by which a player positions their avatar over a dead player's avatar in such a way that it appears that they are waving their testicles in their opponent's face. "Hatbagging" is a slightly more SFW version of this.
  • (End Gag) This one of the Heavy's taunts in Team Fortress 2.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first episode to feature Munjeej in a speaking role, as Higuma the Mountain Bandit.
  • This is the first and only time that Yasopp is voiced by Uraby210. By the time of his next appearance in Episode 11, the role had been recast to Munjeej, since he was also playing Usopp, it made sense that he should use a similar voice.
  • Sailor Logic is mentioned again. However, Higuma counters it with his own version, "Bandit Logic". It's similar to Sailor Logic, but involves a lot more raping.
  • The ability of Haoshoku Haki is referred to as "Japanese Music Power". It consists of mentally projecting J-Rock into your opponent's mind until they are too freaked-out to fight you.
  • Rabidfishy briefly appears as Arlong prior to his first (and thankfully only) full appearance in Episode 10.
  • This is the last episode produced before the series's first hiatus, which lasted from April until June 2009. This was caused by Uraby210 moving house and purchasing new abridging equipment.
  • This was also the last episode to be edited with Windows Movie Maker. However, it was not the last video, that honour belongs to the hiatus announcement video, "A Brief Interlude".
