Overview Edit

Metal Gear Solid: The Abridged Snakes is a parody of the Gamecube remake of the original Metal Gear Solid (PS1) known as The Twin Snakes. It began on April 26, 2008 with Episode 0, covering the game's pre-title screen opening along with a small portion of the Briefing footage. Since then, the series has relied mostly upon footage from the in-game cutscenes, utilizing only occasional gameplay footage. The footage used in this series was taken first from YouTube user Hcloud13, then from Episode 6 and onward, Carlitonsp1.

Production Edit

The first four episodes of Metal Gear Solid: The Abridged Snakes (0-3) were each released within 3 days of the previous episode. Episode 4 took almost two weeks after that, then Episode 5 roughly a month afterward. Due to numerous complications, such as Hcloud13's YouTube account being suspended, a general lack of inspiration at the time, and moving to a different state, LordQuadros took nearly an eight month break from The Abridged Snakes, save for a few holiday specials. Episode 6 finally premiered on March 4, 2009, utilizing higher quality footage captured by Carlitonsp1, as well as YouTube's then relatively new HD format. He also began editing the series in Sony Vegas, when it had previously been done in Windows Movie Maker. This also marked the first time the new opening (A censored version of Team America: World Police's "America, F**k Yeah!") was used. Soon after, however, LQ's computer encountered a major crash, forcing him to eventually buy a new one. Not too long after his new laptop was acquired, Episode 7 and Episode 8 were produced within just a little over a week of each other. Episode 7 was done in a silent movie style, almost self-mockingly citing pop-culture references from all over the first half of the Twentieth Century. Episode 9 is still in production, which was halted due to yet another crash. However, LQ's laptop has been repaired since, and work on the episode has resumed. the series has since been finished and he has now moved on to MGS 2:Sons Of Abridgerty.

Opening Edit

Episodes 0-5: "Metal Gear Solid Main Theme" - Metal Gear Solid (PS1)

Episodes 6-9: "America, F**k Yeah!" - Team America: World Police Soundtrack (In this version, the word "f**k" is censored with the MGS alert sound effect.)

Common ThemesEdit

-Solid Snake's callous nature is amplified to such a degree that he shows minimal to no concern for the lives of others, and in fact, openly enjoys taking lives.

-Snake also has extreme cannibalistic tendencies.

-Otacon is shown to be extremely unlikeable, often simply reciting the opinions of people who annoy LordQuadros.

-Liquid Snake and Revolver Ocelot are often seen in holiday specials, dismissing the holidays that they are meant for as part of the American government's conspiracy to keep consumerism going strong.

-Almost as if in contrast with Solid Snake's altered personality, Revolver Ocelot, who commonly falls into "ridiculously evil" territory in the actual games, is actually shown to be a bit more reasonable, even going so far as to provide a public service announcement about drug-related deaths in Episode 6.

-In The Twin Snakes, director Ryuhei Kitamura took certain liberties with the cutscenes, which often involved Snake performing over-the-top action movie-style stunts. These are often mocked when they come up.

-The MGS games' constant Fourth Wall breaking is a running gag.

-LordQuadros' constant annoyance with his less patient fans is often a source of parody, as well

Sons of AbridgertyEdit

This is a parody of metal gear solid 2. Episode 0 covered the tanker chapter and the rest of the episodes are on the plant chapter and has ridden as the main chapter.
